The Major Sports Facilities and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 was introduced in Queensland Parliament on 26 August 2025.
It proposes targeted amendments to create a more streamlined, contemporary ‘fit-for-purpose’ regulatory framework for hosting special events at Queensland’s major sports facilities.
The amendments will place the Gold Coast’s major sports facilities, People First Stadium and Cbus Super Stadium, on equal footing with Suncorp Stadium in attracting international headline concerts, by removing commercial inequities arising from inconsistent finishing times for amplified music constrained by differing noise control regimes.
